In 2001, after many years of successfully operating Schnee Realty, a brokerage firm specializing in the sale of investment properties nationwide, Marvin Schnee established Markai Properties in order to purchase properties as principal for his own account.
In addition to properties in New York and New Jersey, Marvin has owned and continues to own assets in Louisville, Houston, East Chicago, Milwaukee, Shreveport and various other cities. Marvin recently merged Markai properties into a unit of Read Properties. Read is an owner and developer of value added properties nationwide. They agreed to join forces because of their shared history of partnering on deals when Marvin was acting as an independent owner.
Marvin’s forte and specialty is purchasing assets in bankruptcy, and in conjunction with his proprietary due diligence methodology, he has purchased assets in Bankruptcy Courts throughout the country. Marvin has an extremely successful track record in turning around these distressed properties. Whether REO or privately-held, because of his extensive experience in dealing with owners of distressed properties, Schnee understands their predicament and knows how to smooth the transition from current ownership into new hands. Marvin is always looking at properties of this nature and has significant resources at his disposal to close these deals rapidly, with a minimum of red tape.
